APC Declares Shekarau’s Faction Illegal, Affirms Ganduje’s Group
The national leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has declared a faction of the party in Kano State led by Senator Ibrahim Shekarau as illegal.
Secretary of the APC Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee, Senator John James Akpanudoedehe, made this known on Monday in Abuja.
An Abuja High Court had earlier upheld the congresses conducted by Shekarau’s faction and nullified that of Governor Abdullahi Ganduje’s faction.
The presiding judge, Justice Hamza Muazu, in his ruling restrained Ganduje’s faction from appointing a new executive.
Ganduje’s faction had elected Abdullahi Abbas as its chairman, while Shekarau’s faction elected Haruna Ahmadu Danzago, in the parallel congress held on October 16.
Speaking with newsmen, Akpanudoedehe stated that the congresses conducted by Ganduje’s faction were recognized by the party leadership and remained legal.
He asserted that the party did not send parallel state congress committees to the state, describing members that attended congresses conducted by Shekarau’s faction as saboteurs.
Buhari Should Leave Good Legacy By Signing Electoral Bill – Lawyer
A Nigerian lawyer, Fred Nzeakor, has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to sign the electoral amendment bill so that he will leave a good electoral process legacy at the end of his tenure.
The lawyer who spoke on Arise Television on Tuesday said that the issue of 2018 should be avoided which he said affected the credibility of the 2019 general elections, an election that was conducted with an act that was yearning for amendment.
According to him, If the President fails to sign the bill into law, it would negate all his efforts in allowing free and fair elections in all the states of the federation.
Nzeakor added that the amendment came but wasn’t signed into law, stressing that this time around there was enough time to correct the errors of the past.
Three students arrested over Sylvester Oromoni’s death
The Lagos state Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, says Three students of Dowen College in the Lekki area of the state have been arrested by the police, for allegedly assaulting 12-year-old Sylvester Oromoni.
Odumosu, who spoke on Tuesday morning, also said two other students of the school fingered in the assault, were now at large, adding that those in police custody were helping the Command with information on how to track them.
The Lagos CP, added that the school principal, housemasters, and other officials of the Lekki-based school were also assisting the police with information as the Command launched a full-scale probe into the circumstances culminating in the death of Oromoni, and that he had ordered the Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti, to take over the investigation of the case immediately.
Nnamdi Kanu hungry, starving in DSS custody — Lawyer
Ifeanyi Ejiofor, the lawyer of the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, on Tuesday, has said that his client was starving in the custody of the Department of State Services.
In a statement titled: “Update on the visit Mazi Nnamdi Kanu at the Headquarters of the Department of State Services Abuja, Ejiofor stated that none of the pronouncements made by Justice Binta Nyako of a Federal High Court in Abuja on December 2, 2021, has been obeyed by the DSS.
However, Nnamdi Kanu extended his compliments to his millions of supporters as he remains grateful for the overwhelming support and show of solidarity thus far.

Gombe Partners FG To Increase Wheat Production In Nigeria
The Governor of Gombe State, Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya has assured the Federal Government of its partnership in boosting wheat production and other agricultural products as well as creating job opportunities for the people in the state.
Governor Yahaya stated this at the groundbreaking ceremony of the 2021 dry season for wheat production by the National Agricultural Land Development Authority (NALDA) in conjunction with the Gombe State Government at Dogon Ruwa, Kaltungo Local Government Area of the state.
According to the Governor, the dry season wheat production is in line with the ongoing efforts to bridge the national deficit in wheat production and reduce importation.
He maintained that the project, which targets nine states with a land size of about two thousand five hectares, was expected to yield about ten thousand metric tons of wheat annually.

Cameroonian refugees flee to Nigeria as secession conflict worsens
The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) has raised concern over influx of Cameroonian refugees into Nigeria which has surpassed the benchmark of 70,000 people.
The refugee situation was exacerbated by continuing conflict between secessionist groups and Cameroonian government troops.
Raising the alarm on Monday in Abuja, UNHCR spokesperson Gabriel Adeyemo said the refugees who have settled in Nigeria’s Akwa Ibom, Anambra, Benue, Enugu, Cross River and Taraba states are now more than seventy-eight thousand and need urgent international additional support.
Adeyemo said that ninety-seven point seven million dollars was needed to respond to the needs of the refugees, asylum-seekers of different nationalities and Internally Displayed Persons (IDPs) from Cameroon.
According to UNHCR, the refugees need protection, camps and shelter, and non-food items such as blankets and jerry cans and commended Nigeria on its way to becoming a champion in implementing the Global Compact on Refugees.

Tonto Dikeh urges Halima Abubakar to name bullies in Nollywood
Nollywood actress, Tonto Dikeh, has urged her colleague, Halima Abubakar, to name the bullies in the Nigerian movie industry.
Dikeh said this in response to Abubakar’s Instagram post.
Abubakar on Monday, while posting about the viral case of a student’s death in Dowen college, Lagos, stated that she was a victim of bullying, adding that bullies were also in Nollywood.
In response to Abubakar claims, Tonto Dikeh took to her Instagram page to ask Abubakar to name the bullies so that people can know them and “say hi to them.”
