War Against Insurgence: Buhari Charges Nigerian Army to increase collaboration with other security agencies
President Muhammadu Buhari has tasked Nigerian Army to increase collaboration with other security agencies in order to comprehensively defeat terrorism in Nigeria.
Speaking at the Chief Of Army Staff Annual Conference, with the theme “Building Nigerian Army Capacity in combating Emergency Security Threat in a joint Operations Environment in Abuja on Monday, the president who was represented by the Chief of Defense Staff, Lucky Irabor, told Nigerian Army to optimally deploy available personnel and military equipment so as to achieve success in the battlefield.
Revenue Allocation: Local governments to Implement Constitutional Provisions to the letter – Ozigi
The Director of Finance and Administration of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria, ALGON Salawu Nuhu Ozigi, says with the demand for resources and the dwindling funds available from federal allocations, local governments in Nigeria have resolved to explore all revenue sources provided for local governments under the 1999 constitution as amended.
Speaking exclusively to Signature TV at the weekend, Ozigi who is also the chairman of the Interministerial Committee on National Anti-Multiple Taxation, NAMTAXS, said ALGON is working to harmonise tax and levies collection across all local governments.
He said tax administration in the local governments has become disorderly, allowing revenue contractors who visit both thuggery and mismanagement of funds to create difficulties for businesses and citizens.
The ALGON Director of Finance and Administration said all security agencies and the majority of the local governments have bought into the NAMTAX project, warning that no revenue collecting operative, whether contractors or government agencies are expected to be on the roads enforcing any tax or levy collection orders.
2023 Election: Ezeife, others advocate for Igbo Presidency
The former Governor of Anambra State, Chukwuemeka Ezeife, and other stakeholders have advocated for the South-East presidency as Nigeria’s next general election draws near.
He stated this in Abuja at the National Convention of United for Better Initiative (UBNi) a political pressure group with the theme: “The Imperative of Rotation in the Federal Republic of Nigeria” held on Saturday.
Sylvester Oromoni: Police Begin Investigation Into Death Of Dowen College Student
The Lagos State police command has announced that it has commenced an investigation into the death of Sylvester Oromoni Junior, a 12-year-old student of Dowen college in the Lekki area Of Lagos.
The Commissioner of Police in Lagos, Hakeem Odumosu on Sunday said the Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCID), Panti, has been directed to take over the case from the Maroko division.
Odumosu added that the command is teaming up with the Delta State Police Command in the investigation to unravel the mystery behind the death of the minor.
The 12-year-old student died on Tuesday last week after sustaining multiple internal injuries after he was allegedly tortured and bullied by some senior students in the school.
The Lagos State government through its Ministry of Education who had paid an earlier inquiry visit to the college on Friday has announced that the school be shut down indefinitely.
Osinbajo To Deliver Keynote Address At 2021 Global Forum On Liquified Petroleum Gas
Vice President Yemi Osinbajo will on Tuesday deliver a keynote address at the World Liquified Petroleum Gas Association forum in Dubai, United Arab Emirates
According to a statement by his spokesman, Laolu Akande, Prof. Osinbajo departed Abuja on Monday and will be speaking to over 2,000 delegates from 72 countries, on the theme of the LPG Week – “Energising Tomorrow.”
World leaders, top government ministers from several countries, and Chief Executives of major multinational corporations in the Liquified Petroleum Gas (LPG) sectors around the globe will be attending the week-long 2021 World LPG Week from Sunday 5th through Thursday 9th under the auspices of the Paris-based World LPG Association.
This year’s LPG Week, which will hold at the Dubai World Trade Centre, creates the opportunity for global stakeholders to engage with the activities lined up, including a global exhibition, technology conference, the LPG Development Summit, among others.
Two Officers, Five Soldiers Killed As Troops Engage BH/ISWAP Terrorists In Borno
Nigerian Army Spokesman, Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu during the weekend announced that two officers and five soldiers were killed on Friday when operatives of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) engaged Boko Haram (BH) and Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists who infiltrated Kala Balge town in Borno State.
The Army spokesman, who said that three other members of Sector 1 Joint Task Force(JTF) North East(NE), were injured in the attack, revealed that the troops neutralized 26 Boko Haram and Islamic State of West Africa Province terrorists who came on gun trucks and motorcycles.
According to him, the insurgents attacked troops deployed at the Forward Operational Base (FOB) Rann, a border town between Nigeria and Cameroon.
The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Faruk Yahaya while paying tribute to the departed heroes, who paid the supreme price in defending their fatherland, commended troops for their gallantry in the North East, especially with the recent successes recorded in Gajiram and the Tumbus.
Nnewe-Oduma-Uburu communities celebrate road completion
President Muhammdu Buhari has commissioned the 40.37-kilometre Nnewe – Oduma Road linking Enugu and Ebonyi States, and bringing to three the number of roads commissioned across the country since the beginning of the Season of Completion and Impact barely two weeks ago.
President Buhari, who was represented at the event by the Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, Dr Ogbonnaya Onu, said the Nnewe-Oduma Road and others being commissioned represented the manifestation of the commitment of his administration to improving road transport infrastructure, ease of doing business and job creation as well as prosperity to lift people out of poverty.
President Buhari, who described the roads commissioned as a critical component of Nigeria’s road network, observed that one element of change in those roads was the travel experience on the\ and well-built roads.

Lagos empowers 190 youths, women in fish cage culture
In a bid to continuously empower, engage youths and women and create systems for economic dependency in Lagos state, the State Government has empowered 190 youths and women in Afowo Community, Badagry, in the fish cage culture system.
The State Commissioner for Agriculture, Ms Abisola Olusanya, speaking at the symbolic stocking of the cages in Badagry, explained that each of the cages would be stocked with 1,000 juveniles of both tilapia and catfish.
She added that each of the beneficiaries would also be given 20 bags of fish feeds, medication, as well as a monthly stipend of N15,000 for four months before the fish is harvested.
Olusanya, therefore, urged the beneficiaries to learn from their successful predecessors, as well as government officials who are available to help, such that they would harvest big table fish, sell them, restock and grow the business.
Earlier, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture, Mr Hakeem Adeniji, congratulated the beneficiaries and the community as a whole for having such a revolutionary project in their domain, adding that it was already generating interest from private sector investors who would like to tap into the many benefits of the fish cage culture.

Three Telecommunication companies qualify for 5G Spectrum auction – NCC
The Public Affairs Director of Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Dr Ikechukwu Adinde, has announced that three telecommunications companies have qualified as approved bidders for the 3.5GHz spectrum auction.
The auction is for the deployment of Fifth Generation (5G) Technology in the country by January 2022.
The companies are MTN Nigeria plc, Mafab Communications Limited and Airtel Networks Limited.

The Italian government has announced new plans for those who are yet to be vaccinated in the country, saying they will no longer go to the theatre, cinemas, live music venues or major sporting events under the new rules that came into force on Monday.
