WHAT IS WRONG WITH AN OGONI GOVERNOR?
The Rivers state and indeed the Nigerian story cannot be told without devoting an entire chapter to the Ogoni nation.
The contribution of the Ogoni people to the resource base of both Rivers State and Nigeria; the sacrifices of the Ogoni people in exposing the machinations of the international oil companies as they despoil Ogoni land to enrich their home economies, the contribution of Ogoni people in the political conversation and to learning and literature.
They lost their finest in these efforts and it seems the political equation wants to consign the Ogoni to irrelevance. So, what is wrong with an Ogoni governor in Rivers state if humanity, equity and fairness have any place in Nigeria and Rivers state politics?
In the Upland-Riverine balancing, is the Ogoni any less upland?
