12m NLC workers ready to agitate for amendment of Electoral Act_Ayuba Wabba
The Nigerian Labour Congress president, Ayuba Wabba, has asked the Federal Government and the National Assembly to ensure the amendment of the Electoral Act or risk the protest of over 12 million of its members.
He made this note on Sunday during a town hall meeting organised by, a civil society organisation, Yiaga Africa, stating that the approval of the bill was necessary to manage the challenges in the country’s electoral process.
Wabba said that time is of the essence and that Nigeria ought not to be where she is on the issue of this very important bill.
He said that a membership-based organization of 12 million who are registered with NLC can actually push a process, assuring that between now and the 7th, NLC should be able to get something ready.
He reiterated that the union care so much about this issue and know that Nigerians are very passionate about having certainty about elections.
Government is government for the people by the people, so allow the people to realise what they need to do to have credible leaders in place, he stated.
