2023: SEAMATA Throws Weight Behind S/East Presidency
Traders under the auspices of South-East Amalgamated Markets Traders Association (SEAMATA) have thrown their weight behind the clamour for a South-East President come 2023.
The traders urged political parties to give aspirants from the zone the chance to take a shot at the presidency.
SEAMATA, an umbrella union of traders in all markets in the South-East and all traders of South-East extraction doing business across states of the federation, made the call on Monday in a communiqué issued by the traders in Enugu to newsmen.
It was signed by its President-General, Chief Gozie Akudolu, and Secretary-General, Mr Alex Okwudili.
The communiqué was the outcome of the national general meeting held by SEAMATA in Owerri, Imo, on April 27 2022.
The statement called on all political parties in the federation to, “in the interest of equity, justice, fairness, and balance of power”, zone the 2023 presidential candidacy to the South-East.
The communiqué read in part: “To continue with her advocacy and aggressively sensitise our members to register and collect the INEC permanent voter cards at centres close to their respective residence.
