2023: Umahi Will Transform Nigeria Like Ebonyi – Ngwu
Special Assistant to Governor David Umahi on Infrastructural Development for Concession and Road Maintenance, Engr. Frank Ngwu, has said that Governor Dave Umahi will import the massive development of the state he has achieved under his administration into the country, if he becomes the President of the country.
He said Umahi has used the lean resources in the state and developed Ebonyi to an enviable height and called on Nigerians to support his 2023 presidential ambition to develop all parts of the country the way he did in the state.
Ngwu stated this in Abakaliki, after receiving an award of Honour as Astute Engineer from members of the Correspondent Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ebonyi State Council.
He explained that Umahi has reduced the cost of project implementation in the state from what it used to be and has introduced quality project policy in the state.
He said, “you can see the transformation of the state since the beginning of this government, there are projects that are scattered everywhere. There is the highest standard of projects and the only place you can get in Nigeria is in Ebonyi State. The biggest project that is handled by the government is in Ebonyi. People ask where the governor gets these resources and the funds.
“The answer is simple, it is prudent management of resources, because what kills the project of government; the budget process of government, the budget implementation of government from federal to so many other state, is because of overburden of government expenditures in contract awarding and the governor having the fear of God, being a Project Engineer, and also a Structural Engineer, knowing what cost of production means and he brought it bare in Ebonyi State, not minding that he was into politics.
“He, therefore, decided to reduce the cost of implementation of the project from where it used to be to the barest minimum and that is the result that all of us are witnessing in Ebonyi State. so, I want to use this opportunity to ask the members of the press to tell Nigerians, to tell the world that we have Umahi and he has the magic wand and he has what it takes to transmit what he is doing in Ebonyi State in the entire Nigeria and the opportunity has availed itself.
“Now Umahi is contesting the President of Nigeria, it is an opportunity to import what he has done in Ebonyi State to the entire federation of the country. Umahi has done extremely well in Ebonyi State and other states should also benefit from what is meant by Good governance, what is meant by prudent management of public resources, what is meant by doing the projects of government, as if they are personal projects. That way, every section of this country will develop and the entire nation will develop.
“I must say that I am grateful to this government for so many good reasons. I was appointed in 2016 as a Technical Assistant and from Technical Assistant, I became an SA to the Governor on Road Maintenance, from SA on Road Maintenance, and now SA to the Governor on Infrastructural Development for Concession and also Road Maintenance.
“So, I will see myself as a privileged child. Not only that, since I joined the government of Umahi, I am proud that I have never been suspended for once since that time till now. Even when there was a dissolution of the cabinet, I was not also dissolved, I was asked to continue with my job. So, you can see that I see myself as a privileged child, I see myself as a son, I see myself as a child under the growth of the Umahi government.
“I am learning. I see myself as a student of the transformation agenda of this government, of infrastructural development of this government, I have not been in construction, but under this government, I learnt construction and I am doing well in construction.
“I joined this government as a politician, as Technical Assistant on Inter-Party Affairs, but today, not only am I a Project Coordinator, I am also the Project Engineer of the biggest International Airport in Nigeria and I am also the SA to the Governor on Infrastructural development. So, I am happy to host the press, the 4th Estate of the Realm.”
