20TH CHIEF OF NAVAL STAFF SOCCER TOURNAMENT ENDS IN ENUGU

The 20th Chief of Naval staff under 14 boys and the 12th President Naval Officers Wives Association (NOWA) under 17 Soccer Tournament has endrd in Enugu with a call for more youth’s engagement in sports to shield them from vices. 

The Chief of the Naval staff, Rear Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla represented by Rear Admiral Patrick Nwatu stated this at the end of the event held at the mainbowl of Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu. 

Rear Admiral Ogalla said that the Youth Sports Federation of Nigeria, YSFON provided the platform for the Navy to showcase her interest in sports which it sees as an opportunity to build good relationship between the Navy and the civilian community.

According to him ,the Nigerian Navy is pleased to continue with the Legacy in promoting sports and Youths engagements in various areas and called on other states to emulate Enugu State and build on that legacy. 

In the finals,Imo Strikers Queen beat Ebonyi 4-0 while Enugu Adoration FC humbled Abia 5-0 with Harmony Chidi from Imo emerging the highest goal scorer for the girls with 7 goals while Wisdom Boniface from Enugu scored six goals as the highest in the boys category.

Best players of the tournament went to Islamia Yusuf from Ondo and Wisdom Boniface of Enugu.

Many dignitaries were in attendance including Reverend Father Ejike Mbaka , Enugu State Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Lloyd Ekweremmadu who represented Governor Peter Mbar, representative of the chief of Air Staff, Air Officer Commanding Ground Training Command Air Marshal UK Abdullahi.
