Nigerians react to the rescue of the kidnapped kankara schoolboys

Reactions have continued to trail the rescue of the kidnapped of the 344 Government Science Secondary School, Kankara, Katsina State

While it is the number one trend on Twitter with the hashtag #ourboysareback, President Muhammadu Buhari has congratulated the Nigerian Army for organizing the liberation operation of the schoolboys kidnapped from Government Science Secondary School, Kankara, Katsina State.

The President, however, said his regime and the military have a lot of work to do regarding the insecurity in the country.

A former senator Shehu Sani said the reported release of Kankara students is a welcome and commendable development.

Katsina State Governor Aminu Masari says the 344 Kankara Boys were released with help of Fulani Association (MACBAN) “Miyetti Allah”, they were never in d hands of Shekau’s BokoHaram as claimed in media, were pure bandits with the intent of masking terror links. #



7 killed as security operatives foil a fresh attack in Kaduna

No fewer than seven persons have been confirmed dead on Friday morning following an attack by suspected Fulani herdsmen, on Thursday night at Gora gan village in Zangon-Kataf local government area of Kaduna State.

It was reported that up to five houses were burnt with an old woman seriously injured and the attack would have been more devastating if not for the intervention of security agents. #


FG Orders Network Providers to Cancel NIN ₦20 Retrieval Charges

The Federal Government has ordered all network providers to cancel the Twenty Naira charge for the retrieval of the National Identification Number (NIN) with immediate effect. 

Nigeria’s Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Isa Pantami gave the order in a statement issued on Friday.

According to the statement, the Minister’s directive which takes immediate effect is an intervention aimed at making the process easier and affordable.

By this waiver, all Nigerians, subscribers, and applicants can access the service using the *346# code for their NIN retrieval at no charge for the duration of the NIN/SIM Card integration exercise.” #

COVID-19: Behave Responsibly During Holidays To Avoid Another Lockdown, FG Warns Nigerians

The federal government on Thursday asked Nigerians to comply with COVID-19 health guidelines as the holiday season beckons.

The call was part of the National Economic Council resolution after a meeting chaired by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.

Nigeria, in recent weeks, has witnessed a surge in new infections of the deadly coronavirus.

On Wednesday, the country recorded its highest daily number of infections.

According to the National Economic Council, which is made up of all 36 state governors, the current trends are now approaching or surpassing the levels reached during the lockdown imposed at the height of the epidemic earlier in the year. #



U.S. reacts to rescue of Kankara schoolboys, sends an important message to FG

The United States has urged the Nigerian government to hold those responsible for the kidnapping of Kankara schoolboys, accountable” to the full extent of the law”.

The U.S. Department of State condemned the abduction in a statement issued by a spokesperson, Cale Brown after the release of the abducted students on Thursday.

Gunmen said to be Boko Haram members stormed Government Science Secondary School, Kankara, Katsina State, on Dec. 11 and abducted over 300 students.

One of the captured students said the abducted students were 520 and that some died in the course of a firefight between the abductors and the Nigerian military.

According to Governor Aminu Masari, 344 of the abducted students were released by the abductors on Thursday night. #
