Bandits can’t disrupt our education system, says El-Rufai

The Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai has vowed that the government will not allow the bandits to dictate its educational policy or destroy the livelihood of children and their future by not giving them an education.

The governor, who said this when the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshall Isiaka Amoo paid him a visit on Wednesday, praised the Armed Forces and other security agents for all that they have been doing to keep the country safe, in spite of the challenges.

In response, the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshall Amoo said he came for an associational and operational visit, especially to see the preparedness of the Air Training Command, whose personnel are fighting the bandits in the Northwest.

Amoo said the Chief of Defence Staff and the Service Chiefs are determined to wipe out the bandits so that farmers can go back to their farms at the end of the dry season, by enforcing President Muhammadu Buhari’s directive.

 

Police charge three OPC members who arrested Fulani warlord Wakili

Three members of the Oodua People’s Congress who arrested suspected Fulani warlord Wakili Abdullahi Wakili have been charged to court by the police in Ibadan, Oyo state.

Iyaganku Chief Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday ordered that three members of the Oodua People’s Congress (OPC) be remanded in a correctional center for alleged arson.

The accused, Awodele Adedigba, Dauda Kazeem, and Hassan Ramon, were charged with three counts of conspiracy, murder and arson.

Magistrate Olaide Hamzat, who did not take the plea of the suspects because he had lacked powers to hear the matter, ordered the suspects be remanded in Abolongo Correctional Centre, Oyo town. #

 

Hijab crisis: Gov. AbdulRazaq’s support for Muslims ungodly: CAN

The Christian Association of Nigeria has called on the federal government and Inspector-General of Police to intervene in the ongoing crisis over hijab in Kwara’s missionary schools, accusing Kwara Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, of acting in an ungodly manner.

In a statement by its General Secretary, Joseph Daramola, CAN said reopening of the closed schools without resolving the crisis has led to churches and mission schools being vandalised with impunity by the hoodlums banking on the state government’s support in the pretext of enforcing the policy.

CAN also accuse the governor of supporting Muslims against Christians in Kwara.

World Leaders condole with Tanzania over President Magufuli’s death 

Tributes have been showered on the late Tanzanian President, John Magufuli who died of a heart condition on Wednesday aged 61.

World leaders including South African President, Cyril Ramaphosa,  Kenya President, Uhuru Kenyatta, Yoweri Musevi, President of the Republic of Uganda, Rwanda President, Paul Kagame, Chinese and United States Embassy in Tanzania, former Nigeria President and UN special envoy on crisis, Goodluck Jonathan all took to social media to pay tributes to the late ‘Bulldozer’.

The Tanzania vice-president Samia Suluhu would assume the presidency for the remainder of the 5-year term that Magufuli began serving last year. she would be the first female president of the country and the only female currently holding executive power in Africa.

 

Super Eagles: Onuachu Drafted as Moses Simon’s Replacement

 

Paul Onuachu has been drafted to the Super Eagles for the upcoming 2020 African Cup of Nations qualifiers against Benin Republic and Lesotho.
Onuachu, who has scored 27 goals in all competitions this season was initially placed on Rohr’s standby list.

According to the Nigeria Football Federation, the KRC Genk forward replaced Moses Simon, who will miss the game after his club Nantes ruled it would not allow the player to leave.

Nigeria will take on the Benin Republic on the 27th of March in Porto Novo, before returning home to face Lesotho in Lagos three days later. #
