Gunmen kidnap Kogi prince, ex-lawmaker, other hotel guests in Abuja

Operatives of the Federal Capital Territory Police Command have launched a manhunt for criminals who kidnapped an Igala Prince and some hotel guests at Tungan Maje community.

The FCT Police Spokesperson, Mariam Yusuf told newsmen that the police are on the trail of the gunmen.

The suspected gunmen had on Thursday morning stormed Tungan Maje, a community along Zuba-Gwagwalada highway in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), and abducted the owner of the hotel and guests that included some politicians. #

 

Insecurity: Bandits kill one, abduct thirty-three in Kaduna

One person has been killed and thirty-three others abducted by bandits in Kachia Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

Five other persons were also injured after the bandits attacked the town Wednesday night. The district head of the town, Sabiu Suleiman, confirmed this when a delegation from the Kaduna state government and a joint team of security personnel visited the affected communities on Thursday to assess the situation. #

 

Cholera Outbreak: FCT Records 3 Dead, 91 Suspected Cases

The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), has reported an outbreak of cholera in the territory.

Addressing Journalists in Abuja, the Acting Secretary, Health and Human Services, Dr. Mohammed Kawu, said that as of June 23, no fewer than seven deaths and 91 suspected cases have been recorded.

While explaining that the sporadic outbreak in the rainy season could be a result of the leaching of sewage into drinking waterways or from contamination of food matters by bacteria, he said that 50 per cent of the cases if not treated could lead to death.

He, however, urged FCT residents not to panic as the Administration through the Health and Human Service have stepped up its manpower to combat the epidemic. #

 

President Buhari To Embark on Medical Trip to London

President Muhammadu Buhari will on Friday travel to London, the United Kingdom.

The Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, disclosed this in a statement on Thursday in Abuja.

He explained that the President’s trip to London was for a scheduled medical follow-up, adding that he would be back in the country during the second week of July. #

Nigeria secure Women’s 4x400m Relay Olympics Qualification

 

Nigeria women’s 4x400m relay team have qualified for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics after racing to a 3:26.84 African lead time at the Lagos Open Athletics Championship at the Teslim Balogun Stadium in Lagos.

The 4x400m team have become the second Nigerian relay team to qualify after the women’s 4x100m team led by Blessing Okagbare secured their spot at the games with a 42.97seconds run at the National Championships (Olympic Trials) last week Thursday at the sports ground of the Yaba College of Technology, Lagos. #
