Secondus: APC blackmailing PDP governors to join it

 

The National Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Uche Secondus, has accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) of forcing opposition governors to join it.

Secondus made the accusation at a media briefing in Abuja, on Tuesday.

He said the APC, which has not achieved anything in government over the past six years has been celebrating the poaching of opposition governors as an achievement

The Zamfara governor who has emerged as an APC leader parted with the PDP on Tuesday.

Speaking at a grand rally on Tuesday at the Trade Fair Complex Gusau, Matawalle said he had been nursing the ambition of leaving the  Peoples Democratic Party for several reasons. #

 

 

Ohanaeze Ndigbo disowns statement on Nnamdi Kanu

 

The apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, has disowned a statement credited to it on the re-arrest and arraignment of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

Chief Alex Ogbonnia, the National Publicity Secretary of Ohanaeze, said the group is yet to make known its position.

He described those behind the fake statement as mischief-makers, impostors and charlatans. #

 

Kanu’s Arrest Not End Of Biafran Affair, Referendum Must Hold – Coalition Of Northern Groups

 

 

The Coalition of Northern Groups has said that the arrest of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), is not the end of the Biafran agitation.

In a statement by its spokesman Abdul-Azeez Suleiman on Tuesday, the group called on the Federal Government to allow the full course of justice to take effect, adding that a referendum is necessary to determine the finite outcome of all agitations for sovereignty.

The group said it received the news of the arrest and repatriation of Nnamdi Kanu with mixed feelings of apprehension and appreciation.

The coalition commended the effort of the Federal Government and the agencies that made this possible, particularly the International Police and authorities of the United Kingdom for honouring their obligations with Nigeria. #

 

 

 

CBN moves to resuscitate Enugu’s moribund agro factories

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), in collaboration with Roche Pharmaceutical Company, is seeking Enugu State Government’s approval to revive moribund state-owned agro factories.

Mr Tony Ifechukwu, Special Adviser to the CBN Governor, Mr Godwin Emefiele, said this on Tuesday when he led the team from the two organisations on a visit to Deputy Governor Cecilia Ezeilo.

Ifechukwu said the CBN governor is interested in ensuring that states become economically viable, as the team’s visit was to discuss ways of harnessing the economic potentials in the state’s agro-business enterprises.

Deputy Governor Cecilia Ezeilo promised that the state government would do all in its power to ensure the success of the projects. #

 

 

Tearful Serena forced out through injury at Wimbledon

 

Serena Williams is out of Wimbledon in the first round after injury forced her to retire in the early stages of her match with Aliaksandra Sasnovich.

The American was tearful as she had to withdraw from the match.

She was seeking a historic 24th grand slam title at the return of an event she has won seven times.

Williams had broken Sasnovich and led 3-1, appearing to be in full control of Tuesday’s contest on Centre Court.

But she suffered an ankle injury in the fifth game after seeming to slip while playing a forehand. #
