84 Nile Varsity Graduates Bag First Class

No fewer than 84 out of the 1,251 graduating students of the Nile University of Nigeria, Abuja bagged first-class degrees, the Vice Chancellor of the institution, Prof. Dilli Dogo, made this known ahead of the 11th convocation in Abuja.

Dogo noted that 632 Post-Graduate students will also be graduating out of which 45 would be awarded Doctor of Philosophy.

While giving further statistics on Tuesday in Abuja, the VC noted that 203 students were awarded second class (honours) upper division, 229 with second class (honours) lower division and only 10 were awarded third class (honours) degrees.

He said so far, the employability skills of the graduates which must remain topmost on the list of services offered by the school had been institutionalised, adding that so far, “employability of graduates as of today stands at 60 per cent globally.

“There will be 43 medical graduates, 84 First Class, 203 have second class upper, 229 have second class lower and 10 with pass degrees. Also, there are 632 postgraduate students out of which 45 will be PhD degrees.

“The enrolment quota has increased in the institution from 50- 100 per cent. In the coming session, we will admit 195 medical students and this has been institutionalised. “We have built three huge academic complexes this year. One of them is the only STEM state-of-the-art building in Nigeria.”

Meanwhile, the VC noted that two eminent Nigerians, a business mogul, Dr Mohammed Indimi, and former Minister of Health/ professor of obstetrics, Prof. Isaac Adewole, would be awarded honorary degrees in oil and petroleum engineering, as well as in medical sciences respectively.

Also, the convocation lecture will be delivered by educationist and former executive secretary of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund, TETFund, Prof. Sulaiman Bogoro.
