Desmond Elliot Attacked for Extolling Godfatherism
Lagos State law maker Desmond Elliot, representing Surulere constituency came under attack by Nigerians after he berated Governor Obaseki of Edo State.
The actor-turn-politician in a recent interview tackled the Obaseki slogan of “Edo no be Lagos” stating governor of Edo state wouldn’t be in power without godfatherism.
Elliot added “A godfather always tries to look after the interest of his people. I’m a product of godfatherism but Tinubu has never for one day asked me to do something you know would be detrimental.”
“It’s progressive. So, let him (Obaseki) not castigate the whole thing. If not for godfatherism, would he be where he is today?”
Disgusted by this utterances, Nigerians on twitter berated the actor-cum-politician, calling the state lawmaker “Desmond Idiot”, a name which by Freudian slip, he was once referred to by one of Nigeria’s ace comedian Klint-Da-Drunk while performing on stage.
Lagos State politics is over time believed to be under the firm grips of “the Tinubu empire” and Tinubu is fingered to be the godfather of Lagos.
