2026 UTME: JAMB Releases Results For Monday, April 20
The Joint Admission Matriculation Board (JAMB) has released the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) for April 20.
JAMB spokesperson Fabian Benjamin disclosed this in a post on his X handle on Tuesday morning.
“The results for Monday, 20th, have been released. Candidates can view their results using the usual process.”
“To view their results, candidates should send UTMERESULT to 55019 or 66019 using the phone (SIM) number they used to register for the 2026 UTME,” he wrote.
The 2026 UTME began on April 16th and will end on the 23rd of the same month.
Candidates who wrote the exams on the 17th of April faced difficulties in getting their results. Some of them claimed to have tried multiple times to check their results but did not succeed.
JAMB had earlier indicated that results for candidates who sat for the exam on Friday, April 17, 2026, would be released the following day.
However, the delay triggered frustration among candidates awaiting their scores for the 2026 UTME.
In a statement on Sunday, Benjamin apologised to candidates who stayed up late expecting the release.
“Good morning, everyone. We sincerely apologise for the delay in releasing the results for Friday, 17th April, which is the second batch in the series, as earlier promised,” he wrote.
“Our Chief Executive was unavailable due to an important engagement but will be in the office today, and we assure you that the results will be released later today, surely before nightfall.”
“We also extend our heartfelt apologies to those who stayed up waiting for the release. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
Over Two Million Candidates
No fewer than two million candidates registered for the 2026 Computer-Based Test (CBT) examination nationwide.
The agency said a total of 2,243,816 candidates registered for this year’s exercise, representing a 10.5 per cent increase from the 2.03 million recorded in 2025.
Lagos State recorded the highest number of candidates with 381,814 in the breakdown of registration figures, followed by Ogun (137,156), Oyo (122,662), Kaduna (103,498), and the Federal Capital Territory (102,961), according to the agency.
Outside Nigeria, Côte d’Ivoire leads with 32 candidates, followed by Equatorial Guinea (16), Burkina Faso (14), and the United Kingdom (12).
Countries such as Gambia, Ghana, and South Africa recorded fewer than 10 candidates each.
