The Abia State Police Command says it has rescued four kidnapped persons and neutralized six members of the kidnapping syndicate in the state.
A release by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Maureen Chilaka said the command received a report about the kidnap of the victims who were driving in their Toyota RAV 4 along New Umuahia Road, Obingwa.
Chilaka explained that the tactical team of the Command acting on credible intelligence, and using technology, located the kidnappers’ hideout in Osokwa, Osisioma in Ngwa Local Government Area, where the victims were held hostage for five days in a three-bedroom bungalow.
She said the operatives came under heavy gunfire but that the suspected criminals could not withstand the superior firepower of the Command’s tactical team which led to six members of the kidnapping syndicate being neutralized.
The four kidnapped victims she said were rescued unhurt and taken immediately to the Police Hospital, for medical attention while two AK-47 rifles, six magazines, and 34 rounds of live ammunition were recovered from the scene.

According to the Command’s image maker, efforts are ongoing to apprehend other fleeing members of the gang who escaped with bullet injuries while the Commissioner of Police, Danladi Isa has advised the people of the State to report anyone with gunshot injuries to the nearest police station or call any of the police emergency numbers.
He assured the people that the command is working assiduously to nip crime and criminality in the bud and track down all crime suspects and bring them before the law.
