The Actors Guild of Nigeria has declared Thursday as “No Shoot Day” for all Nollywood filmmakers, following the death of actor, Obumneme Odonwodo alias Junior Pope and three other crew members in a boat mishap on Anam River in Anambra State on Wednesday.
National President of the Actors Guild, Emeka Rollas said in a statement on Thursday that the mishap occurred while they were producing a movie titled ‘’The other side of Life’’, produced by Adamma Luke.
He also announced the indefinite suspension of all films that involve riverine areas and boat riding while also suspending the film “The other side of Life” indefinitely.
He warned that no actor is allowed to work with Adamma Luke as a producer till further notice, while the search for the bodies of the remaining persons continues.
He prayed for the repose of the souls of those who lost their lives in the tragic incident.
The boat carrying the actor, Junior Pope Odonwodo, popularly called Jnr Pope capsized while he, alongside two other yet-to-be-identified actors, drowned and his body recovered and rushed to the hospital, where he was confirmed dead.
The death of Junior Pope is the latest in a string of tragedies that has hit Nollywood this year after the death of John Okafor known as Mr. Ibu and Sisi Quadri last month following several other previous deaths of other actors.
