The Central Asian nation’s emergencies ministry says about 117,000 people have been evacuated due to floods in Kazakhstan.
The ministry also says in a statement, about 16,000 people have returned to their homes, as water recedes in some regions.
While evacuation continues in North Kazakhstan, Aktobe and West Kazakhstan regions, several districts of the Northern Kazakh city of Petropavl were completely flooded and cordoned off on Monday.

Over 200,000 residents of the city say their houses had been submerged up to their roofs or even got detached from their foundations and floated away.
