Cross River state governor, Sir Ben Ayade has expressed delight at the avalanche of awards that have come his way in the recent past, saying the honours showed his efforts at reinventing Cross River are receiving wide attention.
Recalled that governor Ayade recently received Independent Newspapers Man of the Year Award on Agro- Industrial Development.He is poised to receive a similar award from Leadership Newspapers.
The governor spoke on Thursday in his office in Calabar after receiving Award of Excellence for Sustainable Development Governance from a Non Governmental Organization, Transformation Opportunities Providers,TOP Foundation.
Ayade explained that his policies and projects are geared towards securing the future of young Cross Riverians.
Ayade: “I acknowledge Barrister Jide who is a public analyst and a social conscience of the people.He has been a great stimulant for young people.Coming here to give me an award, coming from a very highly reverend lawyer is an indication that indeed am doing something right… that someone, somewhere in Cross Rivers state is putting people first before everything, expanding and creating connectivity between today and tomorrow and making sure that we have a provision for young people as well as focusing on commonality and value of mankind as a digital essence of governance”
Earlier, Vice President of TOP, Barrister Jide Ologun who presented the award said the Foundation has closely followed Ayade’s people oriented style of government and came to the conclusion that he was deserving of honour.
He commended the governor for providing opportunities for the youths.
Said Ologun: “This award is presented to Professor Ben Ayade, the executive governor of cross river state for his exceptional sustainable development governance system
We have kindly admired him from outside the state and his given hope to younger generation connecting the state to the future of global economy.
We deemed it necessary to commend him, encourage him and appreciate him.We know its not an easy thing to choose to promote good governance at the expense of politicking”
The TOP boss congratulated Ayade for emerging recipient of the Award and urged him not to relent on his socio- economic and infrastructural drive in Cross River state.
“Sir, we congratulate you, and like a former lagos state governor once said, the reward for good work is more work. We wish you more work and God will take you from glory to glory.God bless you”, Ologun told the Cross River state number one citizen.
