Benin vs Nigeria: Super Eagles could qualify before kick off in Porto Novo

Nigeria could confirm their place in next year’s Africa Cup of Nations, even before they kick a ball against Benin Republic on Saturday evening.

The Super Eagles currently lead Group L with 8 points, one more than second-placed Benin, ahead of the penultimate fixtures in the series.

However, in the early kickoff, Lesotho play Sierra Leone at home.

The Leone Stars have three points after four matches, while their hosts have two.

If the encounter ends in a draw, it would mean Lesotho can no longer qualify for the continental showpiece in Cameroon.

It would also mean Sierra Leone cannot reach Nigeria’s current tally of eight.

However, no matter the outcome of the game, Gernot Rohr’s men only need a point from their remaining matches to qualify.
