Benue Indigenes Blame State Govt’s Inactions For Rising Insecurity
Former media aide to Benue ex-Governor has criticized the administration of Governor Hyacinth Alia for its handling of the escalating insecurity in Benue State.
Akase who spoke to Signature Tv in an interview said that the state government’s inaction has left communities vulnerable to renewed waves of violence.
The remark comes in the wake of devastating attacks that have claimed many lives, Yelewata and Apir communities.
Akase accused Alia of dismantling critical security measures established by the previous administration to combat herder-related violence, expressing dismay at what he described as a failure to prioritize the safety of Benue residents.
A public commentator Caleb Senda, described the attacks as politically motivated, accusing the state government of turning a blind eye to the plight of its people.
The recent attacks, concentrated in areas like Gwer West, Kwande, and the Sankera axis, have been linked to armed herders and militia groups, exacerbating a long-standing crisis in the state.
