Buhari Congratulates Malawian newly elected President, Chakwera
Nigeria’s President, Muhammadu Buhari, has congratulated, Lazarus Chakwera, the winner of Malawi’s presidential election re-run.
In a message to the President-elect, Buhari promised to work with him and the people of Malawi for over all development of the country and the African continent.
“Greetings from the government and people of Nigeria. I congratulate you and the alliance on your impressive victory in the elections. I look forward to working with you for the advancement of peace, security and development of the entire continent,” the Nigerian President said.
The Malawian opposition Alliance leader won the re-run election five months after the first poll with 55.57% of the total votes declared early Sunday by the country’s electoral commission.
