CAC deregisters splinter Ohaneze group
The Corporate Affairs Commission, CAC, has deregistered the splinter Ohaneze Ndigbo General Assembly.
The Ohaneze Ndigbo General Assembly was registered by a handful of disgruntled Igbo elements to challenge the main Igbo apex socio-cultural organization, Ohaneze Ndigbo.
In a public notice dated 29th of June, 2020, the CAC said the certificate of registration No IT 144918 issued to Ohaneze Ndigbo General Assembly has been withdrawn by the Corporate Affairs Commission.
It advised the trustees of the association to return the certificate issued to it to the commission as same has been cancelled.
The CAC added that the conditions for the issuance of the certificate have not been fully fulfilled.
Some Igbo people who spoke to Signaturetv.org on condition of anonymity, hailed the cancellation by the Corporate Affairs Commission.
According to them, the Ohaneze Ndigbo General Assembly, had constituted itself into a nuisance, thus unnecessarily challenging the main Ohaneze Ndigbo in most of its activities.
Some also alleged that the splinter group sometimes usurp the functions of the main Ohaneze Ndigbo and often claimed to be the authentic Igbo socio-cultural group representing the general interest of the entire Igbo people.
Efforts made to reach some members of the Ohaneze Ndigbo General Assembly for their comments proved abortive as none of them could be reached on the phone.
