Cain, US ex-presidential candidate dies, Trump blames ‘China virus’

Herman Cain, the Republican who ran for president in 2012, is dead.

He passed on after contracting coronavirus.

The 74-year-old was hospitalized on July 1 after he tested positive.

In 2006, Cain survived late-stage colon cancer.

On June 20, he appeared without a mask at a rally held by President Donald Trump in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Trump eulogized Cain on Thursday at the White House.

“He was a very special person… and unfortunately, he passed away from a thing called the China virus.” He said.

Trump, in 2019, wanted him on the Federal Reserve Board, but Republican senators refused to endorse his appointment.

The American leader eventually withdrew the nomination.

Former presidential candidate, Mitt Romney, has expressed sadness about the demise.

“Saddened that Herman Cain – a formidable champion of business, politics, and policy – has lost his battle with COVID,” Romney said.
