Chimaroke Nnamani, Sullivan Chime formally meet first time in over 15 years
Senator Chimaroke Nnamani and Sullivan Chime, two former Governors of Enugu State, made history Friday when they met formally for the first time in over Fifteen years.
The historic meeting which was held at Senator Nnamani’s residence in Agbani, took many political watchers of Enugu State politics by surprise.
Though Chime was accompanied by his former Chief of Staff, Victor Atuonwu when the meeting started no aides were allowed to participate.

Chime who succeeded Nnamani in 2007, had been accused by Nnamani supporters of of ingratitude and abandoning his God Father, Senator Nnamani all through his eight year reign as Governor.
The period saw Nnamani’s “banishment” from the political firmament of the Coal City State.
However the situation was reversed in 2019 by Chime’s successor, incumbent Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi with his invitation and eventual “installation” of Nnamani as Senator representing Enugu East Senatorial District.
Yesterday’s meeting has been welcomed by many commentators who commended the two former allies-turned enemies for turning the corner.
Many heaped praises on Senator Nnamani for what they called his “political sagacity and forgiving spirit” in initiating the meeting.
Though rumours swirling around the meeting are associating it to the 2023 political permutations of Enugu State, insider sources tell Signature TV Nnamani’s move may be to build a strong coalition of support for Governor Ugwuanyi who he had consistently told the world saved him from political oblivion using the revered Ebeano political machine.
Many pundits are keeping their fingers crossed and as one of them who preferred not to be mentioned in this report told Signature TV “This meeting is pregnant. There is more to it than we are being told. Let’s watch and see”.
No communique or statement was issued after the epoch meeting.
