Russia marks the 80th anniversary of the Soviet Union’s victory over Nazi Germany in World War Two on Friday with a military parade attended by dozens of world leaders, including China’s Xi Jinping.

A contingent of Chinese troops representing the country’s armed forces took part in Friday’s parade.

The soldiers carried a large national flag of China as they marched past the main leaders’ stand.

President Xi stood as soldiers from China’s army, navy and air force marched across Red Square.

President Vladimir Putin said on Friday that Russia will always remember and appreciate the Allied contribution to victory in World War II.

Russia highly appreciates the contribution to the victory of resistance fighters, Allied armies and the ‘courageous people of China,’ Putin said.
