The Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lieutenant General Tukur Yusufu Buratai has emerged the Daily Asset Man of the year. This was made known during a courtesy call on the COAS today 23rd Jan 2020 by the editorial team of the Assets publishing company ,publishers of Daily Asset led by its Publisher /Editor in Chief ,Dr Cletus Agwaya at the Army Headquarters conference Room in Abuja.
Dr Agwaya said the nomination of the COAS as the Man of the year is as a result of numerous achievements recorded since his assumption of office especially in the fight against insurgency in the north east . According to him, the NA under the present leadership have achieved undisputable transformational gaints strides in infastructural development, research development, barrack renovation and establishment of institutions.
He said the award which was initiated four years ago is meant to appreciate individuals or organizations who have distinguished themselves in various field of endeavors that have contributed in Nations building.
The one time Commissioner of Information in Benue state said the decision to honor the Army Chief was unanimously approved by the editorial board after strict and fair process.
The award he said will be formally confer on him on 21st Feb 2020 in Abuja.
Accepting the Award on behalf of the COAS,the Chief of Project and Programmes at the Army Headquarters, Major General Mohammed Aliyu thanked the medium for the award adding that such recognition will spun the Nigerian Army to do more. “The award is a mark of honour to not only the Nigerian Army but to the Nation at large”. He assured them of vibrant military Media relationship.
The COAS while frowning at the unprofessional conduct of some media houses charges them to be balance and accurate in their reportage. “You should always verify your facts before going to press. You should also avoid any reports that will undermine the National security of the Nation. Accurate and balance reports will give credit to your medium”, he said.
The Publisher was accompanied on the visit by some members of the editorial board of the medium.
