A woman has been rescued after she jumped into the Osun River in Osun State in a bid to commit suicide over hunger occasioned by total lockdown of the state due to coronavirus pandemic.
Osun State currently has 14 cases of coronavirus and the state government has shutdown the state to curb spread of the virus.
Abdul-Wasiu Ismail, an eyewitness said the woman claimed to have jumped into the river because of hunger after separating from her husband
The woman is said to have three children whom she said she could not cater for because of her plight.
She was, however, rescued by good Samaritans.
Governor Adegboyega Oyetola of Osun State had recently announced the total lockdown of the state, following the confirmation of the second case of COVID-19 (Coronavirus).
