The comptroller-General of Customs, CGC, Hameed Ali has approved the promotion of 2,974 junior officers to various ranks with the effective date from January 2019.
In a statement the Customs Public Relations Officer, Deputy Comptroller Joseph Attah said, the promotion was strictly based on merit, as the cumulative marks of annual performance evaluation scores, written examination, seniority and availability of vacancies formed the basis for the promotion which has 1st January 2019 as its effective date.
A breakdown of the promotion record shows that 897 Assistant Inspectors of Customs (AIC) were promoted to Inspector of Customs (IC) rank; 1,426 officers in the Customs Assistant (CA) I rank rose to AIC; 123 others who ranked CAII were promoted to CA1, while 5 CAIII Officers became CAII. In the Support Staff Cadre, 21 AIC Officers were promoted to IC; 208 CAI rose to AIC; 263 CAII to CAI while 31 CAIII were promoted CAII.
While giving his approval for the release of the promotion, the CGC congratulated all promoted personnel and expressed the hope that these elevations will serve as motivation to effectively discharge their duties.
