DEVELOPMENT EXPERT FAULTS EXTENSION OF 2024 BUDGET TO JUNE
A Development expert, Dr. Otive Igbuzor has faulted the decision of the National Assembly to extend the implementation of the 2024 budget to June next year.
Igbuzor who featured on Signature Morning, the flagship morning show on Signature TV said it was unfortunate that the country is returning to the dark days when the government was unable to implement its budget within a single financial year.
He said one of the major achievements of former President Muhammadu Buhari was the passage of the Appropriation bill in December and the January to December implementation of budget during his second term in office.
The Development expert however described the 2025 budget as a very bold initiative with major focus on national security, infrastructure development and the intention to grow the economy by 3.46% and trade surplus of 5.8 trillion naira.
He said he believes that Nigeria’s currency is greatly undervalued because what 1,500 can buy in Nigeria cannot be bought with one dollar in the United States while also noting that the removal of the fuel subsidy was the biggest issue the citizens have suffered in the last 18months which he said would continue for the next 1 year.
