Edo Governor, Obaseki Commission Ojoo and Challenge Bus Terminals in Ibadan

The Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki on Tuesday has commissioned a Multi-Million Naira world-standard bus terminal in Ibadan the Oyo state capital, a landmark project by the Makinde administration.

The Ultra-modern bus terminal is Ojoo and Challenge, in other to boost the transportation system and reduce gridlock in the state.

The Bus Terminal projects were proposed by Governor Makinde to change the transport sector with regard to the ongoing efforts to modernize the transport system in Ibadan and also harness the huge revenue opportunities in the transport sector.

Governor Makinde said one of his campaign promises in 2019 was determined to modernize the transportation system, to provide social amenities and infrastructure in the state.

He said the multi-million-naira project was to transformation in the state, in terms of the transportation system. Makinde appreciated those who gave out their houses for the development of the state.

According to him, the two-bus terminal will be a Public-private partnership as the sustainability of the project is guaranteed.

In his remarks, the Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, commend and congratulate Makinde for the wonderful project by creating infrastructure and social amenities for the Oyo State people.

He congratulates the governor and his team as they work tirelessly to see the completion of the project.

Obaseki, a graduate of the University of Ibadan, said Oyo state is like a second home to him as governor Makinde has transformed the state within a short period of time.

The Ojoo and Challenge Bus Terminals, two of the four such projects awarded in 2020 and the Bus Transport System are coming at a period when Governor Makinde has been able to grow the Internally Generated Revenue of the state by a whopping N15 Billion in just two years.

The two-bus terminal is built in such a way that it will make the people feel comfortable as there is a bar and restaurant in the two terminals. A clinic is there for commuters who don’t feel well to quickly receive a treatment.

There is a stand by the generator at both terminals for effective work.

For the safety of citizens that use the bus terminal, a CCTV camera is installed, to monitor the movement and safety of the people.

Both terminals are fully air-conditioned. A public address system is there for any announcement.

 A restaurant and a bar are at both terminals for commuters to use. A restroom for the commuters.

Present at the commissioning were: Oyo state government officials, Edo state governor, Godwin Obaseki, wife of the former governor of Oyo, top government officials, traditional rulers and Oyo residents amongst others.

The Yoruba cultural group graced the occasion by entertaining the guest with their music and cultural performance.
