ENUGU-BORN SENATOR, AYOGU EZE DIES AT 66
A frontline politician and veteran journalist from Enugu State, Senator Ayogu Eze is dead.
Ayogu Eze who represented Enugu North Senatorial District in the National Assembly where he served as former Senate spokesman died in the early hours of Thursday at an Abuja Hospital after a protracted illness.
The Senator who also served as Commissioner for Information in Enugu State was in the Senate between 2007 to 2015 after which he contested in the governorship primary of the then ruling People’s Democratic Party.
In the Senate, he was appointed chairman of the senate committee on Information and Media, making him the official spokesman of the senate.
Born in 1958, Senator Ayogu Eze died at the age of 66 and for the eight years he spent in the senate, he was a member of the Constitution Drafting and Amendment Committee that made some novel changes to Nigeria’s 1999 constitution.
After his reelection to the senate in 2011, he was appointed chairman of the committee on works and also served as a member of committees on Police Affairs, National Planning, Marine Transport and Federal Character & Inter-Governmental Affairs.
