ENUGU POLICE ARREST TWO FOR STEALING FROM CONSTRUCTION SITES

Two suspects have been arrested by operatives of the Enugu State Police command for stealing electric wires and other installations from various construction sites in the Independence layout area of Enugu.

A statement by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Daniel Ndukwe on Friday said the suspects, Sunday Ogbodo from Nkanu West Local Government Area and Collins Ogbonna of Amechi-Uwani Awkunanaw, Enugu South Local Government Area of Enugu state were arrested by Operatives serving in the Independence Layout Police Division of the Enugu State Command.

Ndukwe said Ogbodo aged 38 was nabbed with several electrical wiring and installation items such as distribution boxes, rolls of cables and many quantities of LED electrical bulbs, all valued at about one point five million naira.

During interrogation Ogbodo confessed to having stolen the items from different building construction sites in Independence Layout and other parts of Enugu using his Peugeot 406 car which was also recovered.

The confessional statements made by the suspect he said led to the arrest of one of his conspirators and the main receiver and distributor of the stolen items, Collins Ogbonna aged 40 who also confessed to the crime.

Ndukwe added that further investigative actions are underway to arrest other collaborators and suspects who will be arraigned and prosecuted once the investigations are concluded.

He advised individuals who may have recently experienced such acts of theft of electrical wiring and installation items in their building construction sites to visit the Independence Layout Police Station for identification of the items and other necessary actions.
