Video : Late Arrival of Election Materials – BVAS Failure mar FCT Council election
Saturday’s Federal Capital Territory Council Election had some challenges amongst which were late arrival of Independent National Electoral Commission officials, electoral materials, and failure of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System, BVAS to identify
many intending voters.
The election which was held in over 1000 polling units across the six Area Councils that make up the FCT namely, Bwari, AMAC, Abaji, Gwagwalada, Kwali, Kuje was for Chairmanship and Councillorship positions.
Signature TV Correspondent Marvelous Obomanu visited LEA Primary School Mpape where he observed that voters trooped out en masse to participate in the council polls.
There are two polling units in Mpape.
Though the voting was slated to start at 8 am on Saturday, the election materials meant for Mpape did not arrive until 10:42 am and voting commenced at 11:20am
The late arrival of election materials made some voters go home without casting their vote.
Some voters who spoke off camera expressed sadness that they were unable to vote because their names were not on the data base

Voters who spoke to Signature TV, complained that the electoral exercise had some challenges.
