The Kano State Police Command, on Tuesday, arrested a suspected female kidnapper and two men over the alleged abduction of a child in the Galadanchi Ward, Rano Local Government Area of the state following the pursuit of the driver of the vehicle conveying them on Beruit Road.
During interrogation on the whereabouts of the boy, the driver disclosed the identity of the leader of the gang, prompting the police to raid a house in the Jabba community, Rogo Local Government Area of the state, where the suspected kidnappers were arrested.
The command’s spokesman, DSP Abdullahi Haruna, said in a statement that the two suspected kidnappers were indigenes of Zamfara State.
The woman reportedly confessed that she started kidnapping for ransom after her husband was killed in Zamfara State.
The statement added that the woman rented the house, where she and her accomplice were apprehended, from a caretaker at the rate of N600,000 per annum.
Haruna stated that the woman would be charged at the end of the investigation.
