Fraud in NDDC : National Assembly Dares NDDC Management

As the Nigerian senate joins the House of Representatives to insist on the probe of projects’ implementation by the Niger Delta Development Commission NDDC, a member of the House of Representatives Uzoma Abonta has dared the management of NDDC to publish the names of National Assembly members allegedly involved in insider dealings, obtaining and abandoning projects after collecting money or obstructing the forensic audit ordered by President Muhammadu Buhari.
Honourable Abonta, who spoke exclusively to signaturetv.org said it is a criminal act to obtain contract for projects and not execute them after collecting money and if NDDC failed to expose those complicit in such behaviour it would be colluding to commit a crime.

He expressed regret that most NDDC projects do not emanate from an informed knowledge of the need of the beneficiary communities but imposed from the surprising ministry. As a result, the said, unneeded projects are located in communities while the NDDC story has become that of abandoned projects.

Honourable Abonta cautioned the NDDC management over its delay or refusal to submit its budget performance evaluation, warning that a performance evaluation is a condition precedent for the passage of a subsequent budget. In other words NDDC may not get its 2020 budget unless it provides its 2019 budget performance report which the National Assembly has to evaluate first.
