The National Youths Service Corps (NYSC) has sworn in 1,635 corps members of the 2024 Batch A Stream two set, deployed to Enugu State for the one-year mandatory national service.
They are made up of 825 males and 810 females.
The state Coordinator of NYSC, Mrs Christiana Salmwang, disclosed this on Tuesday during the swearing-in ceremony at the NYSC Orientation Camp at Awgu in Awgu Local Government Area of the state.
She thanked the Enugu State Government for its support and assistance to the NYSC scheme especially the effort towards the restoration of electricity water supply at camp but noted that the Enugu State Rural Electrification Board was yet to connect the camp to the national grid while the second borehole was yet to be successful.
The state coordinator also appealed to the state government to intervene in the provision of operational vehicles to facilitate inspection of corps members, who are serving in every part of the State.

The Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah who was represented by the Deputy Governor, Mr Ifeanyi Ossai said that the state government would give attention to all the demands in the camp.
Ossai who observed that the NYSC had offered the corps members the opportunity to be independent, advised them to respect the laws of the land and to do everything necessary to make their stay in the state a memorable one.
