GOC 82 division commissions project, commends his officers for their commitments.
The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 82 division of the Nigerian Army, Major General U.T Musa on Thursday commissioned newly built facilities in the barracks of the division.
The facilities commissioned were Garrison quarter guard which was built by Brigadier General MK Ibrahim, the 82 division provost group that was renovated and furnished by Lt. Col SV TIJE, the 82 division band office complex and a Military Police detention facility.
Giving his welcome address the Garrison commander, Brigadier General MK Ibrahim thanked the GOC for commissioning the quarter guard. According to him, quarter guard is the statue of any regimented unit, and without the quarter guard there is no regimentation.
He said that when he took over as the commander last year, he was not impressed with the standard that the quarter guard was and hence started working on renovating it up to 98 percent completion stage and to be commissioned by the GOC.
On the other hand, the GOC also commissioned the provost group administrative company of the division, 82 division band office complex.
Speaking during the commissioning, the acting commander band, Major I.S Tom thanked the general officer commanding for his effort in making sure that the band office is remodeled.
He further said that earlier before the intervention of the GOC, the band office was like a place where people don’t live. But the GOC has rekindled the motivation of the band group.
The GOC also commissioned the newly built military Police detention facility.
In his own address, the commander, Brigadier General T.B Ugiagbe said that the military police had issue of the detention facility as of the time he took over in 2021. He maintained that due to the increase in criminality occasioned by insecurity in the South East, the facility was no longer serving the increasing number of arrested and detained criminals.
He added that they started the project in 2022 and with the help of the headquarters, they were able to finish it for commissioning.
The event was attended by senior officers of the division and their wives and others.
