Gov. Akeredolu Of Ondo State Rebuked By PDP over new N1.5bn armoured vehicles.
The Ondo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has sounded alarmed over the alleged purchase of two armoured vehicles by Governor Rotimi Akeredolu at the price of N1.5bn.
As stated by the PDP, the vehicles were acquired for the personal use of the governor and his wife. While frowning at the purchase of the six-door cars, the party in a statement by its Publicity Secretary, Kennedy Peretei, said that the amount spent on the vehicles does not reflect the state’s impoverishment.
Peretei added that workers in the state experienced unmatched suffering between Christmas and New Year as a result of the non-payment of their salaries and that these wonders on wheels were the third batch of vehicles bought by the Governor since he assumed office about five years ago, that means on average, two vehicles every two years.
He continued by saying that it is on record that each time the Governor procures official vehicles, he buys two, one for himself and the other for his wife. Peretei concluded by adding that the number of vehicles in the Governor’s fleet of which most are armoured is about fifteen, and the level of executive recklessness and insensitivity to the predicament of the people is beyond reasoning.
