The governor of Akwa Ibom, Umo Eno has authorized the immediate release of additional N1.4bn for the payment of gratuities to retired civil servants in the state to cushion the impact of the current economic situation in the country.
Nine hundred million Naira of the amount is for the payment of retired State Civil servants and five hundred million naira is for retired primary school teachers.
A statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, EkereteUdoh said the latest release brings the total amount of gratuities paid so far by the present administration to 16.1 billion naira.
This he said is in fulfillment of his campaign promise made by Governor Eno when he was asking for the mandate of the people.
Udo said the gesture further demonstrates the people oriented approach of Governor Umo Eno.
