An unspecified number of gunmen on Wednesday night attacked the Abia State Criminal Investigation Department, CID, headquarters of the Nigeria Police, located at Uzuakoli Road.
Details of the attack are still sketchy at the time of filing this report but a source said one of the cops was matched by the invaders while two were shot.
The victims were said to have been rushed to the hospital for treatment.
There were also fears that the armoury of the station might have been raided by the attackers but efforts to confirm the attack were unsuccessful as the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Geoffrey Ogbonna did not pick up calls put across to him.
Recall that sometime last year, the same Abia state criminal investigation department was attacked by unknown gunmen in which some parts of the building were burnt and inmates freed.
