HOODLUMS ARRESTED AT NLC PROTEST IN ABUJA
The Nigeria police on Wednesday arrested some hoodlums at the National Labour Congress protest in the National Assembly.
The hoodlums who were in their numbers, disguised as men of the Nigeria union of petroleum and natural gas workers (Nupeng), infiltrated the group to hijack the peaceful protest.
Men of the Nigerian police force who were escorting the protesters quickly arrested the hoodlums and restored normalcy.
Anti-riot and regular policemen have been stationed in all entrances leading to the national assembly as well as the arcade to prevent any further security breach.
The rally has led to heavy gridlock on the roads leading to the National Assembly, as members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Senior Staff Association of Universities (SSANU), Non-Academic Staff Union of Universities (NASU), and National Association of Academic Technologists (NAAT), Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP), came out en masse to protest their various demands
Earlier, the President, of Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Ayuba Wabba presented the complaint letter to Senate President Ahmad Lawan represented by Deputy Senate Leader, Ajayi Boroffice and Speaker, House of Representative Femi Gbajabiamila, represented by Honorable Mohammed Wudil.
They promise the Protesters to resolve the lingering strike in days.
The Protest was organized by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) in solidarity with the striking academic staff unions of universities (ASUU) and other affiliate unions.
