JUST IN: IGP meets CPs, others over election security
The Inspector-General of Police, Usman Baba, on Thursday meets with Commissioners of Police and heads of police formations, in Abuja, to strategies on the forthcoming 2023 general elections, and the security situation in the country.
The security meeting, is ongoing at the Force Headquarters, is being attended by CPs, Assistant Inspectors General of Police, Deputy Inspectors General of Police, and other top-ranked police officers.
Signature TV reports that the major focus of the meeting is election security towards the 2023 general elections, and an improvement on the security architecture of the country, to checkmate criminals and nip criminal activities in the bud.
The IGP had on Tuesday met with stakeholders and harped on intelligence gathering in tackling security challenges.
Usman, “engaged in tactical meetings and conferences with various stakeholders to build solid Standard Operating Procedures and strategic communication action plans geared towards having a seamless electoral process” for next year.
At the meeting, the IGP emphasized the need to enhance actionable intelligence gathering and sharing, coordinated operations, and adequate deployment of personnel and resources by all relevant security agencies and stakeholders in the election process.
