Kano reopens schools Oct 11

The Kano State Government, on Thursday, directed the reopening of both private and public schools from October 11, six months after their closure due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The state Commissioner for Education, Muhammad Kiru, gave the directive at a press briefing in Kano.

Kiru, however, pointed out that boarding and day students in JSS1 and SS1 in both the private and public schools were to wait for another five weeks until the end of qualifying and transitional examinations for the SS2 and JSS 3 students.

According to him, the classes have been staggered so as to give room for social distancing as required by health experts against COVID-19.

According to him, Primary 1 and 2 pupils are to attend classes on Mondays and Tuesdays, while Primary 3, 4 and 5 pupils are to attend classes only on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Friday swith effect from Monday, October 12, 2020.
