Katsina receives 419 Almajiris deported from Kano

The Katsina State Government on Tuesday night received about 419 Almajiris deported by the Kano State Government.

Receiving the Almajiris, the Secretary to the Government of the State, Mustapha Mohammed Inuwa, reiterated the readiness of the state to work closely with neighbours to fight COVID-19 pandemic and other social vices bedevilling the North West Zone.

He expressed happiness that Katsina and Kano were taking the same measures towards curtailing the spread of COVID-19.

The SGS further explained that Katsina State Government had already closed down Islamiyya and Local Quraniq Schools and returned all Almajiris to their parents, including those from Niger Republic.

He thanked Kano State Government for making adequate arrangements in profiling and quarantining them before handing them over.

He called for continuous synergy between the Government of the States with which, he said all issues hindering the progress of the Zone are surmountable.

He said ”All the children would be taken to the NYSC camp in Katsina for another round of health examinations from where they would be transported back to their various localities across the state.

He, however, advised parents to desist from sending their wards to unknown places, thereby exposing them to social dangers under the guise of seeking for religious knowledge.

He said: “it is the responsibility of every parent to ensure proper upbringing of their children which is totally lacking in the Almajiri system.

Kano Commissioner of Education, Alhaji Muhammad Majidadin Kiru, who led the Kano State team at the hand over which took place at Gidan Mutum Daya, Katsina/Kano border, said Governor Abdullahi Ganduje was particularly happy with the quick response from Katsina State, which in less than 24 hours made such huge and speedy arrangements to receive it’s indigenes while for other states, consultations were still on in respect of their children.
