Kebbi First Lady Advocates Community Involvement In Fight Against Drug Abuse
Kebbi State First Lady, Zainab Nasir Idris, has emphasized the crucial role of community participation in combating drug abuse, particularly among women and youth, who are the most affected in the state.
The First Lady made this call on Thursday while receiving the newly posted Kebbi State Commandant of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Rabi’u Abdullahi Sokoto, during a courtesy visit at her residence in Birnin Kebbi.

This is contained in a statement issued by her Chief Press Secretary Khadija Saidu.

Zainab added that with robust community engagement, Kebbi State could achieve significant progress in its fight against drug abuse.
She commended the NDLEA for its proactive efforts and reaffirmed her commitment to collaborating with the agency and other stakeholders.

This partnership, she noted, would expand awareness campaigns, strengthen preventive measures, and enhance support systems for victims of drug abuse.
During the visit, the NDLEA Commandant praised the First Lady’s leadership and her initiatives, including the reconstruction and upgrading of the female rehabilitation center. The facility provides care, counseling, and skills acquisition programs to support victims’ reintegration into society.

Rabiu described the centre as a beacon of hope and a testament to her dedication to addressing the social and health challenges posed by drug abuse.
He further announced that two official NDLEA vehicles had been repaired and reinstated for operations. While urging the public to desist from drug abuse, the Commandant pledged that the NDLEA would intensify efforts to leave no stone unturned in the fight against the menace in Kebbi State.
