Kebbi Sector Commander, FRSC warns officers against bribes
The Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, Kebbi State, Danasabe Lawal Shehu, has warned officers under his command against involvement in bribery and corruption.
Shehu gave the warning when he visited the Zuru Emirate and Jega units of the Corps as part of his oversight functions.
The Public Education Officer of the command, Mr. Uko O. Uko confirmed this in a statement in Birnin Kebbi, the state capital on Thursday.
According to the statement, the Sector Commander paid visit to Zuru and Jega Units Command. the statement also said that the commander was received warmly by other sister security agencies.
While addressing his Officers, Shehu told them he was in the units to convey the Corps Marshal’s message on the recent death of three Marshals of Ijebu Ode Unit caused by lightning.
The Sector Commander who advised his officers to shun bribery and all other vices, said, ” they should be cautious, civil to motorists and the general public”.
He reminded them to be mindful of the Mantra of the Corps which is consultation , reward and punishment, stressed that, arresting offenders should not be at all costs.
Shehu who frowned at staff who engage in corruption, and warned them to desist from doing so or face sanctions, adding that the command will no longer condone indolence and absenteeism from work.
At the palace of the Emir of Zuru, His Royal Highness, Major Gen.(Dr) muhammadu Sanj Sami, (Sami Gomo II) who was represented by the Chairman Zuru Emirate Council, Alhaji Umar Isah, Maji Dadi pledged the support of the Emirate in Council for the FRSC at anytime.
He called on the FRSC to arrest motorists who ply the roads without valid vehicles registration and Driver’s License saying that it is a source of loss of revenue to the State.
The Chairman of Jega Local Government, Shehu Barshal, informed the Sector Commander that efforts were being made to secure a better office space for FRSC in Jega.
The Chairman Zuru Local Government Council, Alhaji Mohammad Kabir Abubakar pledged to support FRSC Zuru Unit Command more and promised that the Koko- Dabai Road which is a Federal Highway will soon be fixed as the Executive Governor of Kebbi State has discussed it with the Minister of Works and Housing.
While responding on behalf of the Heads of Sister Agencies, Assistant Commissioner of Police, ACP Naboji James appreciated the existing synergy among the security agencies in the state and promised to improve on it.
