The Minister of Aviation and Senior Advocate of Nigeria Festus Keyamo has condemned the blockade of the Presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, by angry youths in Benue State on Tuesday.

In a tweet via his official X handle, Keyamo noted that the prevention of Obi from proceeding to the venue of his visit should be condemned by all, no matter the reason for the action.

He noted that even though some people have blamed the incident on internal squabbles within the NDC while others accused Obi of attempting to whip up fresh emotions by attempting to visit Yelwata, the action is still not acceptable.

According to him, everyone should be allowed to move about freely and play politics without such crude interference.

The minister however noted that there is no better time to draw attention of Nigerians and the world to the spin that the partisan section of the media usually put to such incidents especially when it concerns the opposition, and changing the narrative when the ruling party is at the receiving end.

He urged the press to extricate itself from such partisanship and be fair to all insisting that whoever is angry at any candidate or any political party should display the anger with the ballot paper on voting day.
