Labour Party Facilitates Online Voters Registration Exercise for Nigerians

It was a busy day at the Labour party office in Gwagwa ward Abuja, as Nigerians trooped in their numbers to get registered in the online continuous registration of the permanent voter’s card registration.

The exercise came up as a result of the difficulty many Nigerians are facing in accessing the online portal of the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC, to enable them register and participate in the forthcoming general election.

An advocate for youth involvement in politics, Sharon Chukwuobasi, told Signature TV, the idea came up in party’s effort  to contribute its quota by bridging the gap between the INEC and the general public who cannot access the online registration.

She added that the exercise was part of Labour party’s community service to help Nigerians update their biodata online. She commended INEC for extending the deadline of the registration and urged them to update the information as some people find it difficult to have their information online.

Obasanjo said she was happy Nigerian youths were massively turning out to register and get their permanent voters’ cards and urged others to join the band wagon.

The chairman of Labour party Gwagwa ward, Ken Nzenbe Okoro thanked the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC for extending the registration exercise.

He reminded Nigerian youths that it was their responsibility and right and to get their permanent voters card (PVC) and exercise their franchise in the 2023 general election.

He called on other political parties to emulate Labour Party by creating avenues for people to educate the people at the grassroots on voter registration.

Meanwhile the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Chairman, Professor Mahmood Yakubu, has assured newly registered voters that their Permanent Voter’s Cards (PVCs) will be ready for collection from October.

He gave the assurance on Saturday while addressing a crowd of youths, at a mega-concert tagged ‘Youth Vote Count’ at the Old Parade Ground in Abuja, the nation’s capital.
