A leadership expert, Dan Ukwu has identified undue emphasis on personal and selfish interest over public welfare as the major cause of leadership failure in the country.
Ukwu who featured on New Day, a weekend breakfast show on Signature TV, emphasized the need for Nigerian leaders to begin to think more of what will be beneficial to the citizenry over and above personal aggrandizement.
He also advocated for what he referred to as voluntary leadership which focuses on community service that will cater to the greater good of the majority of the people.
The leadership expert also advised those in positions of responsibility and upcoming leaders to cultivate the spirit of tolerance and teamwork which he said were fundamental for effective leadership and achievement of set goals.
