LOCAL GOVTS IN CROSS RIVER STATE TO CONTRIBUTEN50M IN THE FIGHT AGAINST CORONAVIRUS

The Cross River state government has mandated the  18 local governments in state to pay N50 million each as their contribution towards the fight against the coronavirus pandemic.

In statement made available to signaturetv.org over the weekend, the Secretary to the State Government, Tina Banku Agbor, said the Cross River state government in it’s desire to implement measures that would curb the spread of the Covid-19, the government is to apply precautionary measures against contracting the virus.

“In consideration of the above, the Executive Council at its 6th  emergency meeting of Wednesday 1st April, 2020 (CRESEXCO 6/2020) approved that the 18 local governments councils in the state key into the fight against Covid-19 by contributing N50M each amounting to N900M (Nine Hundred Million Naira) only.

The letter presumably directed to the State legislature, solicited the consideration of the Speaker and the members of the state assembly.
